“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a Bible.” - Sinclair Lewis
A bullshit book written by men that attempts to explain the origins of Earth. Asserts that an all-powerful god created the universe in six days and an old crackpot who thought he can hear God built up a ship that could provide life support for the each of the (two) specimens of the 1,250,000 animal species. Condemns people who are not Christian. ie: People of other faiths. Given a bad rep by fundamentalist southern religious extremists who lack the ability to think abstractly and take the Bible literally, an extremely dangerous practice. Taken contextually, the New Testament of the Bible contains a great many unitarian values, such as "treat others as you wish to be treated". In many ways it contains messages extremely similar to ones found in the Torah, the Qur'an, the Bhagavad Gita, and many other religious texts. The danger of religion, and especially Christianity, is that it has always been manipulated in order to achieve political goals (see article on Republicans). The Republican Party uses Christianity in order to gain the support of lower class rural America, without whom it would be merely a small handful of fat old greedy white businessmen with fascist values.
